Moors and Christians Festivity in Alcoy
The Moors and Christians festivity celebrated in Alcoy is dated from the 13th century, when the town, thirty years before reconquered for the Kingdom of Valencia by King don Jaime, was attacked by the Moslems. Thanks to the participation of Saint George, it became a victory for the Christians. Dates: 22nd -24th April. Flags and hangings decorate the balconies and the fabrics. Weapons, costumes and decorations are taken out, after one year since the last celebration.
